Administrative Law

A guide to finding federal regulations, agency decisions, and Presidential documents.

Finding Presidential Documents

The President issues a variety of documents, including proclamations, executive orders, signing statements, and messages to Congress.  Proclamations and executive orders are first published in the Federal Register and then incorporated into Title 3 of the Code of Federal Regulations.  Other documents can be found in the Compilation of Presidential Documents.

The Compilation of Presidential Documents

The Compilation of Presidential Documents includes orders, proclamations, nominations, announcements, transcripts of speeches and press conferences, and other legally significant documents.  The Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents replaced the Weekly Compilation of Presidential Documents in January, 2009.

The Public Papers of the Presidents

The official publication of the Presidents' public writings, addresses, and remarks, beginning with the Hoover administration.
